Review: Cosme Decorte AQMW Repair Lotion & Repair Emulsion ER

New additions to my skincare routine! Today I'd like to share my thoughts on Cosme Decorte AQMW Repair Lotion and Repair Emulsion ER.

If you never heard of AQMW, it is one of the luxury range by Kose Cosme Decorte. (the other one is AQ Meliority, the highest quality range. ) AQMW stands for Absolute Quality Miracle Wonder.
And Cosme Decorte has the same unique steps of skincare system as Albion(another popular brand from Kose), like these:
1. Cleanser or face wash
2. Emulsion/Milk
3. Lotion (Japanese toner-not a type of exfoliation)
4. Moisturizer

It might feel weird to apply emulsion before lotion. This is to prep for the next step, add moisture and soften the skin first so lotion absorbs more quickly and effectively.

The packaging for this range is designed by Marcel Wanders, a Dutch designer. I personally love the combination of white and gold.

The Repair Emulsion is a milky fluid. It's available in 2 types: normal for oily and normal skin, and 'ER' for dry skin. I have combi skin and the BA chose ER for me. I use this right after cleansing, pump 2-3 times on a cotton pad and gently sweep over face and neck, or sometimes I apply with my fingers when my skin feels sensitive or irritated. It actually gets absorbed more easily when using a cotton pad, also my skin feels softer and more supple. As the cotton pad helps to refine the skin, there is no need to use exfoliators.

Compared to other emulsions I've tried such as Albion Moist Crystal Milk II and Cosme Decorte Prime Latte, I find this Repair Emulsion more moisturizing. I think Prime Latte is a bit more runny.

AQMW Repair Lotion is a watery, lightweight lotion. After applying the emulsion, I take a small amount of this lotion onto the palm and press on the face, then take some again and gently press them. It absorbs quickly and it doesn't feel sticky at all. Actually, I used to use this lotion last year (I don't know when the packaging was changed, I prefer the new packaging.) and it didn't work that well without the emulsion. My skin didn't feel particularly hydrated. I think these products are designed to use together so I recommend you to do so, especially if you have dry skin.

These products contain Mucin, a primary component of tears, for moisturizing. As described, Mucin provides an adequate amount envelops it in a tabular-shaped wrap, protecting skin from dryness. I sometimes use the Repair Lotion as a 'lotion mask' - saturate a sheet mask and leave it on the face for 5 minutes, then my skin would be like it never gets more hydrated.

What I like the most about this AQMW range is the scent. They're infused with a Sandalwood scent, it's not heavy but some of you might find it too strong. So refreshing and I quite like it.

I've been using this combo for a week and I like them so far. I think my pores are less visible now. As  Albion's Exage made my skin completely dry out, I thought that Emulsion-first skin care system just doesn't suit me, but I can tell that these AQMW products work for me. Probably Exage products have too much alcohol, I know they're the most popular skincare products in Japan, though.

If you're looking for whitening/brightening products, there are whitening version of Repair Lotion and Emulsion which contain Kojic Acid instead of Mucin. AQMW skincare items are expensive but they are worth looking into. I've been interested in purchasing Cream Excellent, the most expensive moisturizer among the range since when I tested it at the counter. It was excellent, yeah.

You can purchase AQMW here.
