Review: Cosme Decorte Marcel Wanders Collection 2015 Face Powder

Saturday, December 12, 2015

The most exciting product for me from the whole Winter 2015 collections is this very special Cosme Decorte face powder designed by Marcel Wanders, a Dutch designer, who designs for a lot of Cosme Decorte products. I received my reserved box on Dec 1st and I have to say this powder is DIVINE. Couldn't be happier with the purchase.

Cosme Decorte Marcel Wanders Collection 2015 Face Powder is a limited-edition compact for the holiday season and it comes in a different packaging each year. This year it is housed in a pearly white plastic compact with flower (lotus, maybe?) design.

It's a light pink beige pressed finishing powder that contains Gold Colloid nano powder and finely-milled Pearl Powder. Gold powder softly reflects the light to help skin appear clear and radiant and the pearl powder contains amino acid and calcium to help lasting the make-up with the time stability.

The powder itself is extremely fine and soft to the touch. It gives a soft matte finish - nano gold powder is actually invisible. Also it gives me the smoothest skin texture ever. I suffer from bad pores these days and this powder covers them very very well with a soft focus effect. When applied, the overall look is a little chalky but it becomes translucent and brightens up my face, which reminds me of Kanebo Milano Collection powder.

This powder is also pretty great at oil control without drying skin. My oily t-zone never gets shiny with it.

This powder retails for around $240, yes I said $240, it is ridiculously expensive for a powder. However, it includes a refillable compact, 2 refills (18g each), 2 puffs, and a velvet pouch in a box, and I find the powder totally different from other powders I've used before, in a good way, so I think it is worth the price. Also the refill is going to last for 4-5 months or more which means this set lasts for almost a year.

By the way, when I purchased the powder at the nearest Cosme Decorte counter, my SA gave me more than 30 sample packets of their skin care products plus many cotton pads - my sample drawer is overcrowded haha. I'm excited to try them out as there are some I've never tried and some I'm interested in purchasing.
