Review: Cle de Peau Beaute Hydro-Clarifying Lotion & Protective Fortifying Emulsion

Cle de Peau Beaute has reformulated their skin care range in February 2016. Today I'd like to write my thoughts on the new lotion and day time emulsion I bought right away after it was released.

Cle de Peau Beaute Hydro-Clarifying Lotion is a light-feeling lotion that absorbs quickly while Hydro-Softening Lotion is thicker in consistency. Those two lotions have same, sufficient moisturizing effect but different texture and finish. I find the Clarifying one soothing and tightening skin with refreshing feeling, and the Softening one literally softens skin leaving it supple and plump. Cle de Peau SA recommended me Hydro-Clarifying Lotion as I was looking for something hydrates and works for minimizing pores.

This lotion refreshes your skin and improves its texture. It's described that it restores skin's natural moisture balance, but I didn't find it moisturizing at all.

Recently, my skin has been oily on the surface and dehydrated inside. I guess my skin is extremely drying out inside and it causes overproduction of sebum. This lotion was too light for me but it's a good lotion for oily skin. I liked the product in terms on texture and scent.

Cle de Peau Beaute's day and night emulsion comes in two different formulas; lightweight one in bottle and rich creamy one in jar. I picked the lighter one called Protective Fortifying Emulsion for daytime moisturizer. Both types of day emulsion have SPF25 PA+++ sun protection.

I apply 2 pumps of emulsion with a cotton pad after lotion. It absorbs quickly without feeling sticky, however, it leaves a slight filmy feeling - it's probably because of the SPF it has. My skin feels moisturized right after application, but the feeling does not last. My skin starts to feel dry and parched in 10 minutes that I have to apply other moisturizer before starting my makeup. As I started to try this product in February which is the most dry season of the year in Japan, I thought it was just not moisturizing enough for me then, but I used it again in April and my impression of the product didn't change.

Actually I have used their old lotion (Refreshing Balancing Lotion, the lighter one) and it did hydrate my skin well. I'm a little disappointed that their reformulation don't work for me. I see some positive reviews on cosme.net saying they're much better than old formula. Will try the Softening lotion and rich type of the emulsion.
